After a lackluster start to the season, Carlos Boozer vastly improved his play. Being the focal point of the team, when his production increased, the rest of the team picked up, too. As a result, the Utah Jazz went from being right outside of the playoff picture to knocking on the door of contention. During his time with the Jazz, Boozer has led the team to only average seasons. But, for the first time since the days of Karl Malone, this team has a real chance to contend.

Even after their 92-106 loss against the Lakers, Carlos Boozer feels that his team has a legit chance in the West. There is not a team that they cannot beat four games out of seven. According to Boozer, that includes the Lakers. The Jazz got off to a 17-19 start to the season and they currently stand at 50-27. One of the main reasons for that turnaround is the attitude of Carlos Boozer. During the summer, he tried to bully the Jazz into trading him.

Following their first round playoff loss to the Lakers, Boozer had enough with the Utah Jazz. He felt that he and Dwyane Wade could easily dominate the East. Because of his ties to the city of Miami, Boozer said that he had held talks with the Heat. This is something that the team president, Pat Riley denied. However, he hatched a plan to make the Heat into contenders. The deal was to trade for Boozer, by adding a third team and signing Lamar Odom. That deal would have allowed the Heat to keep Dwyane Wade, Michael Beasley, and Jermaine O'Neal. Meanwhile, they could have added Boozer and Odom to the roster.

That move would have definitely moved the Heat from the fifth seed and to the best record in the NBA. The fact of that move never happening angered Carlos Boozer. For the first two months of the season, he took that anger out on his team. But, when January came, he decided to focus on improving the team that he had into a contender. Once his state of mind changed, the Jazz began winning games. Still, most people doubt that they can take on the Mavericks or the Lakers in the playoffs. Most people are not Carlos Boozer, he is an insider and he knows that the Jazz are made of. He is convinced that they can make it to the conference finals and take the Lakers out.
