The hip hop business has changed over the years and rappers are using different methods for exposure. In Harlem, the Manhattan city has seen multiple rappers dominate the game. Nearly twenty years ago, Mase, of Bad Boy Records, was leading the game.
However, in the middle of his reign, he gave it all up. Mase moved away to Atlanta and became a pastor. Following Mase's run, Shyne was groomed to take over Bad Boy. Meanwhile, in Harlem, Cam'ron sought to become the top rapper in the city.
Over the years, Cam'ron has had his hits, but he has not been able to break through and truly take over the game. On the street level, Harlem is being led by A-Thug. At 26, he is the head of his own record label, Black Rolling Stones, and he has different ventures.
Many conservative adults try to keep their children away from hip hop, but for A-Thug it has provided a comfortable life. A-Thug is representing the same Harlem Mase did in 1998, but he is taking over the industry from the bottom up. Teaming up with local businesses and local clubs, A-Thug is putting together a movement, which will go unrivaled in the hip hop game.
