This is especially true in the Eastern Conference of the NBA. Coming into March, the bottom teams in the East held their future in their own hands. Those teams were the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, Miami Heat, Charlotte Bobcats, and Chicago Bulls.

Throughout the season, the Bulls have rallied around Derrick Rose. Ever since his herioc performance in the playoffs last year against Boston, Rose has been a star. When looking at the future of the NBA, most people look in his direction. Despite what the future may hold, things in the present were not looking too good for Rose or his Bulls. In the key stretch, they had tough games and Rose went down with injury.

During this tough stretch, the Bulls went on a 10-game losing streak. When the month came in, they were one game ahead of the Miami Heat for the final playoff spot. But, coming into last night, the Bulls were three games out of the playoff picture. Luckily for Derrick Rose that his team is not in the West. A streak like that out West would have left him and his team out of the playoffs. It became evident that it would be a challenge for the young Chicago Bulls in March, when it was revealed that they had games against the Heat, Bucks, Cavaliers, and Bobcats. Those games, along with games against teams from the West is what led this losing streak.

However, Derrick Rose returned from his injury against the ailing Philadelphia 76ers. For the past few seasons, they have been competitive. Coming into this season, they were still expected to dominate and maybe move up to the next level. Instead, they dropped a few levels. Much like the 76ers, the Bulls have been a bit of a disappointment this season. Finally healthy, they were expected to be up there with the likes of the Atlanta Hawks. But, they find themselves battling for position with teams like the Miami Heat. Playing against the 76ers and with Rose back in action, the Bulls had to win.

In his first game back from his injury, Derrick Rose delivered 23 points and made a career-high four three-pointers in the game. The Bulls would go on to defeat the 76ers 98-84 in Philadelphia.
